SPEAKERS: Rachel  Douthwaite, Coordinator of Safe Babies Program SUMMARY: Rachel  is the Safe Babies Program Coordinator with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Public Health. She provides consultation regarding infants in the care of Vancouver Ministry of Children & Family Development (MCFD) or Vancouver Aboriginal Child & Family Services Society (VACFSS). Rachel works in collaboration with other health care professionals, foster parents and social workers to promote the best care for these infants, many of whom have issues related to prenatal substance or communicable disease exposure, and prematurity. Rachel’s nursing practice has focused on infant, child, youth, and women’s health. Dr. Pat Mirenda: Parent and Child Early (PACE) Coaching Project

SPEAKER: Pat Mirenda is a Professor in the Department of Educational & Counseling Psychology and Special Education, and Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Collaboration in Autism (CIRCA) at the University of British Columbia. She has published numerous research articles and chapters and presents frequently at international, national, and regional conferences.
